PAi Staff Step It Up

PAi INC. hosted a blood drive at PAi's headquarters in Bourbon, Missouri on Thursday.

Forty-eight employees presented to donate, and six of the 48 were first time donors! The goal of the blood drive was to donate 38 units and we collected 39!

Also, at the blood drive, the Red Cross brought along a machine called an Alyx machine, that actually allowed two of our staff to donate the equivilient of 2 units each. Blood has 3 components and red blood cells are the most needed. The Alyx separates out your red blood cells and then immediately pumps the other 2 components, plus some saline back into you. It keeps the donor from having as much fluid loss and saves twice as many lives! We were extremely proud to be a part of this new technology!

PAi is proud of all who coordinated this effort and all who came out to donate. Great job Paramount!

-One pint of blood can save up to 3 lives.

-Every 2 seconds someone needs a blood transfusion.

-Five million patients in the US need blood every year.

-Blood cannot be manufactured; it can only come from volunteer donors.

-Adults have around 10 pints of blood in their body. Only one pint is given during a donation.
